ILYA IOSIFOVICH KABAKOV (born in 1933)
Graphic artist. Studied at the Moscow secondary art school, the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.Surikov (1951-57), graduated from it as a book illustrator (studied under B.Dekhteryov). Participant of exhibitions from the end of the fifties. Foreign exhibitions: Sopot, Poznan (1966), Rome (1967), Cologne, Lugano (1970), Paris (1976), Washington (1977), London (1977) etc. Personal exhibitions: Paris (1985), Bern (1985), Marseilles and Dusseldorf (1986), Paris (1987), New York (1988) etc. One of the leaders of "conceptual" art. Lives abroad.
