ALEXANDR NIKOLAEVICH VOLKOV (1886-1957)
Painter, graphic artist, theatre designer. Studied at the Petersburg University (1906-08), from 1907 studied at D.Bartinker's studio in St.Petersburg. Studied at the Higher Art School of the Academy of Art (1908-11) under V.Makovsky, at N.Roerich's and I.Bilibin's studios, at the Kiev Art School under F.Krichevsky, V.Menk. Participant of exhibitions from 1920. Member of associations and participant of exhibitions of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia-the Association of Artists of Revolution, "The Masters of New East ", organized "Volkov's brigade" in Uzbekistan. Taught at schools, the University, the Tashkent Art School.
