MIDLER VIKTOR MARKOVICH (1888-1979)

Painter, graphic artist, art critic. Studied at the Odessa art school (1909-1913) under K.Kostandi, V.Krainov, G.Ladyzhensky, A.Nurenberg. Worked at the workshops of K.Yuon, I.Mashkov, R.Falk, A.Kuprin (1914-1917). From 1917 - participant of exhibitions. Member of "The Society of Independent Artists " (Odessa, 1918), "4 Arts" (1924-1929). Senior curator of the department of modern Russian painting at the State Tretyakov Gallery (1924-1929). One of the organizers of retrospective expositions of "The Blue Rose" (1925), "The Jack of Diamonds" (1927), one of the organizers of the Moscow Union of artists (1932). His retrospective exhibitions were held in 1988 and 1992.
