IVAN KONSTANTINOVICH AIVAZOVSKY (1817-1900)
In 1833-37 studied at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg under M.N.Vorobyov and F.Tanner. In 1844 received the title of academician. From 1887 - honorary member of the St.Petersburg Academy of Arts . Member of the Roman, Florentine, Stuttgart and Amsterdam Academies of Arts. In 1880 founded a picture gallery in Feodosiya . The main theme of his works is seascapes. His works are housed in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Hermitage, the Feofisiya picture gallery and other museums.
