BRODSKY ISSAK IZRAILEVICH (1883/4-1939)
Oil painter, graphic artist, portraitist. Studied at the Odessa art school (1896-1902), then at the Academy of Arts in St.Petersburg (1902-08) under I.Ye.Repin. In his methods and picture motives he was a successor of old masters. After the October revolution he squandered his gift on semi-official art ("The Execution of 26 Baku Commissars", "Lenin in Smolny Palace"), created a plenty of oil and lithographic portraits of Communist party leaders and statesmen. Works are kept in many museums and private collections of Russia.
