KAMANIN
Sergey Mikhailovich
(1915--?)
Painter. M. Kamanin’s brother. Studied at the Yaroslavl Art School (1932—35), Moscow Art School (1936—39), at the All-Russian State Institution of Cinematography named after F.S. Bogorodsky, department of Painting (1939—43),the graduation work - the sketches of the sets for the film “Boris Godunov” (supervisor – B.V. Dubrovsky-Ekshe). Participated in exhibitions since 1947. Author of genre-paintings and landscapes. Painted the following portraits and pictures: “The National Artist of the USSR L.A. Shagalova” (1965), “The National Artist of the USSR, film director L.V. Kouleshov” (1967), “The Honoured Artist of the RSFSR, film director T.M. Lioznova” (1969), “V.V. Tikhonov acting as Andrey Bolkonsky” (1969), “Professor R.N. Yurenev” (1977—80), etc. Kamanin’s exhibitions took place in 1956 (Tchkalovsk, Gorky region), 1957, 1959, 1966, 1974 and 1983 (Moscow), 1962 and 1963 (Tula). Since 1943 taught at the All-Russian State Institution of Cinematography named after F.S. Bogorodsky, department of Painting (professor since 1969). In 1968 Kamanin was granted the title of the Honoured Artist of RSFSR.
