Victor Marcovich
(1888—1979)
Painter, graphic artist, art-historian. Studied at the Odessa Art School (1909—13), K. Kostandi, V.Kraynov, G.Ladyzhinsky and A.Nuerenberg’s apprentice. Worked at K. Yuon, I. Mashkov, R.Falk, A. Kuprin’s studios (1914—17). Since 1917 took part in exhibitions. Member of the following societies: “Society of Independent Artists” (Odessa, 1918), “Four arts” (1924—29). Chief keeper of the department of the recent Russian painting at the State Tretyakov gallery (1924—29). One of the organizers of the Blue Rose Society and the Knave of Diamonds Society retrospective expositions (1925 and 1927 correspondingly), one of the organizers of the Moscow Artists’ Society (1932). The retrospective exhibitions took place in 1988 and 1992.
